Playstation 3 download service - new titles announced

Sony have today announced that five classic Playstation titles are now available to download onto your PSP via the Playstation network. There are currently 5 titles available, Cool Boarders, Crash Bandicoot, Hot Shots Golf 2, Syphon Filter, and Tekken 2.

All titles cost $5.99 and range from 150mb to 535mb in size.

"Downloadable PlayStation emulated games on the PSP is just the beginning, but it underscores our vision for leveraging the wide breadth of content that?s available from the PlayStation brand, and delivers value to gamers well beyond the initial purchase of their PS3 and PSP," said Peter Dille, Senior Vice-President Marketing of SCEA. "We built every system with a hard disk drive and offer every customer free access to the PlayStation Store so they can experience the full extent of the PlayStation library. We?ll offer additional PlayStation games to the PlayStation Store on a regular basis."

Additional first and third-party PlayStation titles will be added on an ongoing basis to the PlayStation Store to keep, with a second batch of PlayStation titles slated for release later this month.

Strangely, the games cannot be played on the PS3, despite downloading the games onto the console before transferring them to the PSP. In the UK, we'll have to wait until March to download the titles.
